My long-time collaborator and former advisor, Gillian Sankoff, gave a live lecture today for the Brazilian Linguistic Association, Abralin, on the topic of language change across the lifespan. The talk includes our joint work on variable auxiliary selection and future temporal reference in Montreal French. This talk is one of many voluntary contributions by prominent linguists around the world to the Abralin ao vivo – Linguists online series. The aim is to mitigate the impact of the coronavirus pandemic on the exchange of academic ideas. Check out the full series, including archived past talks from the beginning of April.
